•Identify a range of welds
•Carry out correct preparation of the weld according to type and position
•Observe and carry out welds of both single and multi-run in butt, fillet and open corner welds in downhand, horizontal and vertical positions
•Match the correct size of electrode to a given weld type
•Understand the differences when the same weld is encountered in a variety of positions
•Observe and choose from a range of methods for controlling distortion
•Understand the scope and limitations of the instruction given on this course
